Panagiotis Radoglou-Grammatikis

Panagiotis Radoglou-Grammatikis received the Diploma degree (MEng, 5 years) and PhD from the Dept. of Informatics and Telecommunications Eng. (now Dept. of Electrical and Computer Eng.), Faculty of Eng., University of Western Macedonia, Greece, in 2016 and 2023, respectively. His main research interests are in the area of cybersecurity and mainly focus on cyber-AI, intrusion detection and security games. He has published more than 40 research papers in international scientific journals, conferences and book chapters, including IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, IEEE Transactions of Network and Service Management, IEEE Transactions on Emerging Topics in Computing and Computer Networks (Elsevier Publishing). He was included in Stanford University’s list (shared by Elsevier) of the Top 2% of Scientists in the World for 2021 and 2022. Additionally, he has been honoured with five Best Paper Awards in IEEE CAMAD 2019, IEEE CSR 2021, WSCE 2022, SEEDA CECNSM 2022 and IEEE CSR 2023, respectively. He also serves as a guest editor for Discover Internet of Things (Springer Publishing) and Electronics (MDPI Publishing) and contributes as a reviewer for multiple scientific journals. Currently, he is working as an R&D director at K3Y Ltd, coordinating the technical activities and strategy of K3Y in various R&D projects, including H2020 SPIDER, H2020 SANCUS, H2020 5G-INDUCE, H2020 TREEADS, Η2020-MSCA Swiftv2x, TRUSTEE, INCODE, ACROSS, UP2030 and JAUNTY. He is also a postdoc researcher at the ITHACA Lab of the University of Western Macedonia, participating in several national and European-funded research projects, such as H2020 SPEAR, H2020 SDN-microSENSE, H2020 TERMINET, H2020 EVIDENT, H2020 ELECTRON, AI4CYBER and DYNABIC. Moreover, he is a co-founder of MetaMind Innovations P.C., the first spin-off of the University of Western Macedonia. Finally, he is a member of IEEE, ACM and the Technical Chamber of Greece.

ACROSS (6.398.063,75 EUR) develops an efficient and automated service deployment platform for next-gen networks. It utilizes distributed domain-level orchestrators and a cloud-managed multi-domain orchestrator for scalability. Features include deep telemetry, AI-driven intelligence, cross-domain provisioning, and secure orchestration. Testing validates intelligent and trusted zero-touch provisioning processes for submission as proof of concept projects to standards and open-source initiatives.
 
Role/Activities: My role focuses on coordinating the design and implementation activities of storage and analytics services

UP2030 (11.081.846,00 EUR) aims to guide cities through the socio-technical transitions required to meet their climate neutrality ambitions. Role/Activities: My role focuses on the big data life-cycle, allowing the chaining of value-adding activities across multiple platforms.

INCODE (7.153.035,38 EUR) aims to develop an open platform for deploying and managing user applications on distributed, diverse IoT-Edge infrastructures. The platform offers enhanced programmability, spanning from the user interface to infrastructure management. It incorporates an orchestration framework that integrates with IoT, edge/cloud computing, and networking platforms, following a vertical layered approach and user-defined networking features.
 
Role/Activities: My contribution focuses on the coordination of the K3Y technical activities, focusing on the implementation of security attestation mechanisms.
 
Drones4GREEN

K3Y | Dec 2022 – Present

The primary motivation of Drones4GREEN (400000 EUR) is to promote new business opportunities in the domain of drone technology by establishing an open learning environment that will enable the acquisition of competencies and skills related to the drone technology. Drones4GREEN aims to create an updated HEI curricula that will provide the practical and theoretical knowledge required for capitalizing the drone technology into industrial settings and paving the path towards an industrywide “greenification” and sensitization towards environmental and climatic parameters.

Role/Activities: My role focuses on coordinating the development of mobile applications (designed for Android/iPhone users) that will support drone flights.

K3Y | July 2022 – Present

TRUSTEE (8.706.263,75 EUR) is an Horizon Europe project, which aims to bring a green, secure, trustworthy, and privacy-aware framework that will aggregate various interdisciplinary data repositories, such as Healthcare, Education, Energy, Space, Automotive, Cross-border etc. and also consider other European data federation spaces and trans-national initiatives, such as Gaia-X and EOSC.
 
Role/Activities: My contribution focuses on the coordination of the K3Y technical activities, focusing mainly on investigating explainable Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques based on the TRUSTEE requirements and sspecifications.
 
H2020 TREEADS

K3Y | Dec 2021 – Present

Considering the socio-ecological transition of Europe 2030, and towards a more resilient and informed community, focusing on the forests that are near wildfire risk, TREEADS (22.918.035,01 EUR) propose a holistic platform that is able in every state challenge to provide a competitive advantage for EUROPE 2050. The proposed project will cover all the fire management phases (i.e. prevention and preparedness, detection and response, restoration and adaptation).

Role/Activities: My role in TREEADS focuses on environmental and ecological models.

 
H2020-MSCA SwiftV2X

K3Y | Dec 2021 – Present

SwiftV2X (289.800 EUR) will design smart and dynamic algorithms to manage mmWave beam allocations in CAV ecosystems. It will study the mmWave beam allocations and recommend intelligent algorithms based on traditional optimisation techniques. The project also intends to explore the radio resource allocation under multi-radio access technologies and vehicle-to-vehicle communication.

Role/Activities: My role focuses on coordinating the technical activities of K3Y.

 
H2020 5G-INDUCE

K3Y | Jan 2021 – Present

5G-INDUCE (8.023.775 EUR) aims to develop open NFV compatible 5G orchestration platform for advanced 5G NetApps. It enables NetApp developers to define and modify requirements; 5G-INDUCES novelty is the intelligent OSS which exposes network capabilities to users without revealing sensitive information; this enables an application-oriented management and optimization approach, while offering a development environment for the design and deployment of custom applications without external dependencies.

Role/Activities: My role in 5G-INDUCE focuses on coordinating the technical activities of K3Y with respect to implementing Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications for predictive maintenance.

 
H2020 SANCUS

K3Y | Sep 2020 – Present

SANCUS (4.999.731,25 EUR) will dimension novel metrics (i.e., the security-vs-privacy-vs-reliability efficiency trade-off), to measure the cybersecurity and privacy explicitly, flexibly, and automatically . To realise this, SANCUS leverages the FiV, CiV, SiD, AcE, MiU and GiO, enignes to combine unique modelling of the IoT units, cutting-edge methods for automated software validation and verification, and innovative AI-driven techniques for the automated optimisation of the control and trust of digital services.
 
Role/Activities: My role in SANCUS is related to organising and managing the K3Y technical activities that focus on modelling complex cyberattack scenarios and implementing attack generators. Moreover, a special emphasis will be given to Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IDPS) against 5G cyberattacks
 
JAUNTY

K3Y | Sep 2020 – Present

JAUNTY (281.135,00 EUR) project transfers research outputs from the “Secure and Private Smart Grid (SPEAR)” and “SDN – microgrid reSilient Electrical eNergy SystEm (SDNmicroSENSE)” projects back into European education. It aims to enhance undergraduate students’ knowledge and skills in Smart Energy Management Systems (SEMS) through joint and distant courses, as well as remote labs. The project provides an international educational experience from home, particularly benefiting students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Role/Activities: My contribution focuses on the creation of educational material.

K3Y | Jan 2020 – Present

RAINBOW (4.999.677,50 EUR) project will plan and develop an open and secured fog computing platform that will advance the management of extensible, diverse and safe IoT services and cross-cloud applications. The project envisages extending fog computing to its real potential by supplying the development, composition, data and network management to reach secure end-applications.

Role/Activities: My role focuses on validating the RAINBOW solution in three use cases.

K3Y | Jul 2019 – June 2022

SPIDER (7.461.352,47 EUR) will deliver an innovative Cyber Range as a Service platform that extends and combines the capabilities of existing telecommunication testbeds and cyber ranges into a unified facility for (i) testing new security technologies, (ii) training modern cyber defenders in near real-world conditions, and (iii) supporting organisations and relevant stakeholders in making optimal cybersecurity investment decisions.
 
Role/Activities: My role in SPIDER focuses on designing and implementing 5G cyberattack scenarios.
 
H2020 ELECTRON
ELECTRON (10.207.562,50 EUR) is an H2020 research project aiming to deliver a new-generation EPES platform capable of empowering the resilience of energy systems against cyber-physical attacks.
 
Role/Activities: My contribution focuses on (a) coordinating Work Package 2 (Work Package 2 leader), (b) implementing intrusion detection and prevention solutions using federated learning, (c) developing security orchestration mechanisms, (d) modelling Software Defined Networking (SDN)-based mitigation actions and (e) risk assessment and penetration testing.
 
H2020 EVIDENT

EVIDENT (1.998.750 EUR) will propose case studies under the framework of randomised controlled trials and surveys to define the main drivers of individual decision-making and to establish new relationships between energy consumption and other domains.

Role/Activities: My contribution focuses on the project coordination activities.

TERMINET (7.998.285 EUR) aims to provide a novel next generation reference architecture based on cutting-edge technologies, such as SDN, multiple-access edge computing and virtualisation for next generation IoT, while introducing new, intelligent IoT devices for low-latency, market-oriented use cases.

Role/Activities: My contribution focuses on (a) the project coordination, (b) the definition of the TERMINET architecture, (c) TERMINET federated learning framework and (d) TERMINET security.
 
H2020 SDN-microSENSE

SDN-microSENSE (10.100.963,21 EUR) intends to provide a set of secure, privacy-enabled and resilient to cyberattacks tools, thus ensuring the normal operation of Electrical Power and Energy System (EPES) as well as the integrity and the confidentiality of communications.

Role/Activities: My contribution focuses on (a) coordinating UOWM technical activities, (b) developing intrusion detection mechanisms, (c) investigating SDN for cybersecurity purposes and (d) performing penetration testing processes.

MARS (999.000,00 EUR) aims at developing appropriate software applications for monitoring crops efficiently via Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).

Role/Activities: My contribution focuses on big data analytics and developing mobile applications.
